Our December Social: Saturday, December 8th from 12-2 PM

Our Holiday Get-Together is on the calendar -- Saturday, December 8th from 12 noon to 2:00 PM -- and you're invited.

Please join us for an afternoon of good reads and camaraderie at Two Tides Brewing Company, a local craft brewery in Savannah's Starland District. If you wish to participate in our book exchange, please bring 3 "gently read" mystery novels (wrapped to be surprises!) for under our "tree."

Guests are welcome--Low Country Sisters in Crime members will get their first drink for free (sodas and other non-alcoholic drinks available). The brewery has a few basic snacks for sale (chips and pretzels and the like) but we are free to bring our own munchies.

Book Launch with J.J. Hensley: Friday, November 9th at 7 PM

Please join Low Country SinC member Tina Whittle as she interrogates interviews thriller author J. J. Hensley about Record Scratch, the second novel in his Trevor Galloway series.

Record Scratch is a mystery novel divided into 12 tracks on a vinyl album, which brings back his former Pittsburgh narcotics detective, Trevor Galloway, to face a case he doesn’t want. It’s certainly a case he doesn’t need. The client—the sister of a murdered musician—seems a bit off. She expects Galloway to not only solve her brother’s homicide, but recover a vinyl record she believes could ruin his reputation.

Hensley, the author of Measure Twice, Resolve, Bolt Action Remedy, and short story contributor to The Night of the Flood, is a former police officer and former Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service who draws upon his experiences in law enforcement to write stories full of suspense and insight. Mr. Hensley’s novel Resolve was named one of the BEST BOOKS OF 2013 by Suspense Magazine and was named a finalist for Best First Novel by the International Thriller Writers organization.

We will be scratching out some awesome 80s tunes and also welcoming mystery author Tina Whittle, who will put Hensley in the interrogation room and shine a klieg light on his creative process.

Our “ bad cop” moderator Tina Whittle, is the author of the Tai Randolph/Trey Seaver mysteries. Published by Poisoned Pen Press, this Atlanta-based series debuted with The Dangerous Edge of Things and has garnered starred reviews in Kirkus, Publisher’s Weekly, Booklist, and Library Journal. Whittle's sixth book, Necessary Ends, was released in April 2018, and she is an active member of the Low Country Sisters in Crime organization, a regional chapter of the international organization Sisters in Crime whose mission is to promote the advancement, recognition, and professional development of women crime writers

Our October Meeting

Please join us for a day of villainy!

More specifically, please join us on Saturday, October 20th from 10:30 until 12:00 noon at the Ida Hilton Library in Darien. Member Maggie Toussaint will be presenting a workshop entitled “Villains Are Characters Too.” We'll be heading out afterwards to Skippers Fish Camp for lunch for those who wish to do so.

The library’s address is 1105 North Way, Darien, GA. May 31st Workshop with Jenny Milchman

Please join Low Country Sisters in Crime on Thursday, May 31st at noon for a lunchtime event with author Jenny Milchman, whose thriller WICKED RIVER debuts this summer. We'll be meeting at the Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home museum, which is at 207 East Charlton Street in downtown Savannah.

In her workshop entitled 1-2-3 Ways to Get Published Today, Jenny will share her tips for publishing success, no matter your path. We'll begin the workshop with a tour of the Flannery O'Connor home, then settle in for Jenny's presentation. Afterward we'll gather for lunch for further Q&A.

This event is FREE for Low Country Sisters in Crime members -- it is $4 for all others (collected at the door).

Mystery Q&A with J.J. Hensley and Tina Whittle

Please join us at The Book Lady Bookstore for a mystery Q&A with crime fiction writers J.J. Hensley and Tina Whittle on Friday, April 27th at 7:00 PM.

There will be wine and noshes and good conversation as we discuss writing and publishing and mystery fiction. Bring your curiosity and your questions - there's sure to be some marvelous mayhem.

J.J. will be signing copies of Bolt Action Remedy, the first in his Trevor Galloway series published by Down & Out Books. Our February Meeting: What We're Reading Now

Please join us for our February meeting, which will be held on Saturday, February 10th from 10-12 noon at member Nora McFarland's home (see your email for directions and other information).

Our topic is What We're Reading Now. Bring in your current mystery/suspense/crime/thriller reading material; we'll talk about what's working for you as a reader (or what's not) and what the takeaway is for us as writers. We'll also be talking about Sisters in Crime's new Education Grant for members, catching everyone up on upcoming events, and sharing coffee and pastries.
