A Celebration of Edgar Allan Poe's Birthday at The Book Lady!

It's gonna be a dark and stormy night!

Well, maybe not stormy, but once we dip into the mysterious pages of Edgar Allan Poe (and others), it's certain to be dark.

Join us as we celebrate Mr. Poe's birthday -- we're sure he would approve of our bookish location, full of "quaint and curious volumes of forgotten lore."

Bring a reading from a work that has inspired and/or spooked you — or read from your own mysterious work. There will be drinks and nibbles, mingles and shivers aplenty. We hope you'll join us!

January 10th Meeting -- Social Media for Writers

When: Saturday, January 10th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon

Where: Southwest Chatham Public Library Activity Room

Please join Low Country Sisters in Crime for our January meeting, where we'll be discussing the basics of social media for writers. Bring your laptops, smart phones, and tablets with you, and we'll explore Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Pinterest, and several other places where you can interact with other mystery writers, share your book news, and learn more about the world of crime fiction.

We'll also be talking about our upcoming celebration of Edgar Allan Poe's birthday on January 17th at The Book Lady Bookstore, upcoming mystery conferences in our area, and sharing all the great projects Low Country SinC has in the works.

Tina Whittle will be leading the round-table discussion. Come start 2015 off with a bang at the first meeting of the new year!

Maggie Toussaint Chosen for Kindle Scout Program

December Meeting: Saturday, December 13th in Cyberspace

For December, instead of meeting in a physical space, we're sharing each other's company in the virtual world.

So when you're out and about on Saturday, December 13th, take a moment to recognize those individuals and businesses in your community who celebrate books and who support readers and writers, especially those of mystery and crime fiction. A smile and a genuine in-person "thank you" on behalf of yourself and Low Country Sisters in Crime is a great way to share our gratitude, but even if your Saturday involves staying home and sipping eggnog, you can participate.

November 8th Field Trip to Patrick's Indoor Gun Range

For our November meeting, several of us will be gathering at Patrick’s Indoor Gun Range in Garden City, GA (just off I-95) for two hours of shooting and/or observing at the facilities indoor range. All fees to be paid by individual shooters, but it’s free to watch from the indoor observation area (with coffee and water available).

October Meeting Coming Up!

Lee Child -- Our first honorary lifetime member

We are so excited to welcome thriller author Lee Child into the Low Country Sisters in Crime fold. Vice-President Donna Kortes and I made a special presentation to Lee during his speaking engagement at the Lucas Theatre in Savannah, an event sponsored by the Savannah Book Festival.

We appreciated the opportunity to share our Sisters in Crime mission, both nationally and regionally, with the book-loving people of Savannah, and we hope to see Lee in Savannah again real soon.
