Our October 17th Meeting: Handgun Fundamentals

Get ready for some hands-on firearms training during our October meeting.

We'll be gathering at Patrick's Uniform and Gun Range in Garden City for their Handgun Fundamentals Class (you can read more about that HERE).

WHEN: Saturday, October 17th at 8:00 AM (please arrive 15 minutes early)

WHERE: Patrick's Uniforms and Gun Range
(located at 2307 Highway 80, Exit 102 on I-95)

COST: $50 or $40 with the Low Country SinC Discount

WHO: SinC members and friends

Other info to know: Shannon Harrell of Patrick's says that this is a BASIC level class. Folks are welcome to shoot their own firearms after class. Due to having many brand new shooters, formal classes are limited to store-issued .22LR (less noise, less recoil for new shooters, all of which make it easier to practice fundamentals). This is not a tactics class.

Our August Meeting -- Firearms 101 with Gordon Rayner

If you're writing a mystery, chances are good a character is going to pull a gun at some point. And that is a moment every writer wants to get right.

Luckily for Low Country Sisters in Crime, we have an opportunity to learn how to do that.

Please join us on Saturday, August 8th from 10-12 noon at Southwest Chatham Public Library's Activity Room as we welcome Gordon Rayner, author and former DEA agent, who will share everything a mystery writer needs to know about guns, bullets, and all the trouble that characters can get into involving them. You don't want to miss this valuable Q&A session!

For more information, contact Tina Whittle at lowcountrysinc at gmail.com.

Gordon and Ella Mae Rayner were high school sweethearts. Ella Mae became an RN and Gordon did a three year stint in the Marine Corps before he joined the Border Patrol and later became a Narcotics Agent with the DEA. These years provided him with many war stories to be told and retold, including their first work,  Foreign Service Family Style.

Foreign Service Family Style
is now available in print on Amazon and Kindle and also as an e-book on Smashwords.com. It is a true story of a DEA agent and his family who travel with him to Paraguay where he sets up a new office in the American Embassy. The book is written by both the agent and his wife who tell separate stories of their experiences while in this foreign land. The Rayners are currently working on a novel -- Taurus, Taurus, Taurus.
